Every year I do my best to avoid buying swimsuits. I love to swim, but I hate to be seen in a swimsuit. I hate to be reminded of the fact that I am getting old, gaining weight, and looking rather lumpy under a lycra blend. This year, I decided to throw caution to the wind and order suits right away. I am very pleased with what I selected. Now I have no excuse when it comes to going to the pool or to the beach. In a few more weeks I will be dipping my toes in water and I can’t wait!

It’s time to buy a new swing set. For several years the children have made due with an older set I bought at a yard sale. It has become quite rusted and most of the paint is chipped off. Aside from being an eyesore, I think it is fair to say it is a downright hazard.
My biggest problem right now is deciding what we should buy next. It is one of those many times when I am overwhelmed by selection. There are literally thousands of swing sets in a variety of sizes, shapes, colors and materials. I doubt my parents had this problem when I was a child. Back then a swing set was simply a swing set. It was never a rock climbing, spiral tunnel slide pirate ship.

If you ever see me golfing, you will notice I often have a frown on my face. I am worthless at the sport, and if I had my druthers I would never play again. My husband likes golf so-so. I think he more enjoys it as a social function rather than considering it a social event.
We played this weekend with one of his co-workers and his wife. She is a much better golfer than I. I would like to think it is not a matter of skill but rather she has the better clubs. I noticed some Callaway irons in her bag among other things. It must be the irons. If I could only talk my husband into some new clubs, I would no longer have to be embarassed- no, you’re right, it’s me.

I am hoping to put a new glass block window in the back of my house this summer. It is on the top of my to do list. Over the years we have attempted many projects - some more successful than others. One thing I can say for certain is, things go much smoother when you have the right tools.
My husband has given me a tool list. I am supposed to make sure I have everything on the list before we begin our projects. Festool makes some awesome power tools, so of course he has several festool tools on his list. I better get crackin’ if I am going order all these things. Summer is just around the corner.

I am learning the hard way that homeschooling can easily become an expensive proposition. This was our first home school year and I have probably learned more than my son. I say that because this year has been a journey in many ways. Nothing is as simple as it seems and I have learned that my son flounders in some environments and flourishes in others. This has lead me to set up and continually modify a learning space for him. I also started out spending a lot of money that perhaps was not necessary. Recently I have been taking advantage of the internet to find the best buys and materials and supplies. It really pays to sit back and give great consideration to what it is you need before running out and buying the first thing you hear about or the first thing you see.

Do computer manufacturers build their wares to automatically self destruct after 12 months? I have yet to own a computer that hasn’t started to have problems shortly after the warranty has expired. Hardware issues, software issues, sometimes they simply become obsolete. My husband insists I load too many programs onto the computer, but I am not convinced that programs are causing my problems- I don’t use them all at the same time and honestly, I don’t have THAT many programs. My husband believes I need more laptop memory, but I not sold on the idea as of yet. I am going to drop my computer off with a tech and see what he has to say. My computer is too young to be losing its mind.

Several weeks ago I was in the midst of planning a vacation when I x’d out of the reservation screen and decided there was simply no way we could afford it. While we put vacation money aside, I never anticpated the escalating cost of gas or food. Even more frightening will be the final cost of my winter heating bill.
For those of you who are not so faint of heart, las vegas hotels are offering unbelieveable deals on rooms right now- if only I did not live so far away from Vegas. When I saw the ads on TV I nearly fell over in shock. I have not seen room rates this low for a very long time. Now if only the airlines would follow suit, I would pack my bags and roll the dice. Hopefully, someone will benefit from these awesome rates. Even better, wouldn’t it be great to return home with a pocket full of cash?
The economy appears to be in quite a tailspin. The more I read, the less confidant I am. While I am no financial expert, there seems to be an even greater crisis loaming on the horizon. I am starting to see the wisdom of putting your money under your mattress as my great grandmother once did. Perhaps its not the best place if you’d like to see a gain. With the soaring prices of food maybe I should consider talking with a futures broker. No matter what, its time to take a serious look at finances and decide where I should be putting money so I can weather the storm.

I’d like to think I know much about what is going on in the world -specifically the tech world, but obviously that is not the case. I had to be reminded of my age and ignorance this weekend when I went with my younger sister to look for video cards. What are video cards? Why do you need one? What’s the point? I suppose this is only something a gamer can understand- it was lost on me, that’s for sure. Needless to say, my sister and her boyfriend are gamers. I hope her new game card makes all of her virtual dreams come true.

A few years ago I wanted to detoxify. I ordered a book which provided a recipe and diet- for lack of a better word which was to be followed for 30 days. I did not make it a whole day! Within hours I was so sick I was bed ridden. I had a migraine that did not cease as I endured waves of vomiting. I read this is good, because apparently I was so toxic my body was having a severe reaction as I purged poisons from it. it was horrible… but like anything my memories have now become so vague, I am ready to give it another go. This time I am considering a colon cleanse. I am hoping the experience won’t be so severe. I have read so many great reviews for people who have done the cleanse, how can I go wrong? Not to mention, I am hoping it puts a little umph back into my weight loss progress. Has anyone else done a cleanse?
