Are your kids wound up like an 8 day clock? Mine are. Here in Ohio, the snow, ice and below freezing temperatures have made for a less than desirable play environment. I think it is safe to say I have two youngsters who are suffering from cabin fever. I decided I needed to find something for them to do that did not involve mayhem and destruction- two things my little angels are known for. I began searching for children’s exercise videos at my local library. There I came across YogaKids. My children loved it so much my son asked me to buy the set for him. Yogakids is wonderful in the fact that it gives kids beginner poses set against the back drop of nature. It holds their attention and allows them to get much needed physical activity. It also teaches children to love and respect themselves and mother nature. So if you find yourself in a house full of rowdy ruffians, let me suggest a trip to the library to review their video exercise collection.
If you have you won favorites please feel free to include them in the comments.

While flipping through TV channels this evening, Donny Deutch caught my eye. His program focused on children who had not only invented a worthwhile product but brought the product to market. I found the piece very inspiring because it demonstrated how far our children’s dreams can take them if we stand back and allow them to think freely without abatement.
It also reminded me of another segment which featured Farrah Gray. Farrah is an extraordinary young man who grew up in the projects but went on to become a millionaire at age 14. Farrah began with a very interesting concept of creating a youth business co-op and investment club. He later started his own company which produced flavored pancake syrups. The sale of his company ultimately created a teenage millionaire, and as they say, the rest is history.
If you have a creative thinker or business minded child in your family, it may not be all that clear as to what direction you might guide them. Today’s kids are blessed with resources beyond imagination. As parents we simply need to know where to look and how to find them. Here are a few links to help get your children’s ideas off the drawing table and into production.

The History of Valentine’s Day
Valentine of Rome was a Catholic Priest. By some accounts, Valentine was a Bishop. Valentine was known providing aid to maytrs in prison. He was also said to be a miracle worker, as he restored the sight of a prisoners daughter. There are a variety of beliefs when it comes to the celebration of Valentine’s Day. Of course this day is thought to be in memorium of Saint Valentine, but many believe the celebration of Valentine’s day comes form a mid-february Roman Custom where boys drew girls names in honor of the sex and fertility goddess. In 1477, the English deemed the day a celebration of lovers as it was believed birds chose their mate on February 14th. Ultimately, it is a day set aside for showing love and being loved.
